But not the "actual flu" mind you. The one that everyone thinks is the flu when it's not the flu. Now, let's be precise. The Herald yesterday had this bizarre piece (pdf) which treads new ground.
For once, we are told a bit of truth. Very selective truth. Continue Reading

M.M.R. - Merck's Money Racket
So what's the big deal, if as alleged in my previous blog, Merck did actually seriously muck around with the efficacy test, cook the books, invent figures, and produce MMR with a dud Mumps component? After all...when did you last hear of anyone dying from Mumps? (I never did even before the MMR was introduced in 1991, but that's another story.)
Will this court case succeed? I don't think so, because it's all about MONEY. (<--- MP3 file just for us oldies!)

FDA questioned about genetically engineered HPV DNA in Gardasil worldwide.
All New Zealand samples contaminated.
A few days ago, an American organisation put on their website a copy of a letter sent to the FDA, in which they stated that thirteen samples of Gardasil from Poland, France, Spain, USA, New Zealand and Australia, made in four different Merck factories (USA, Holland, France and CSL Australia) had been tested, and found to contain genetically engineered dna fragments which the purification process failed to remove. Yesterday, a more detailed press release was put onto SANE-Vax's site, which showed samples contaminated with HPV DNA 11 and 18. The New Zealand results can be seen here.
One of the genetically engineered particles found is said to be a genetically engineered syntheticaly constructed gene designed to instruct the yeast or baculovirus cells, to make the HPV-11 outer capsid protein (virus-like particles) for the Gardasil vaccine.
This is the Pubmed site for GenBank Locus SCU55993, which is the picture below, of ONE of the alleged contaminants:

Wavy lines mean nothing to me, and probably nothing to you.
SANE-vax's letter doesn't specifically say what the other contaminants are, but say that the rest of their proof is available for review provided that FDA provides " appropriate safeguards ... to protect the proprietary processes and information utilized by our laboratory to test the samples."
To me, no platitudes and fob-offs on this issue are acceptable.
The first question that comes to mind is,
"Is this a big deal?"
This isn't a quality issue in one factory.
The problem, according to the testing done by SANE-vax shows;
A global manufacturing fault.
A global manufacturing issue relating to vaccine design, process and purity - IS - a big deal.
The next question is:
Are the "genetically altered HPV DNA fragments" a big deal?

Perhaps this Australian documentary should have been labelled...
Totally missing the point. Or .. A bunch of Lies. Take your pick.
The Australian 60 Minutes journalist who had the responsibility for doing the research for this programme, is professionally incompetent.
You will not understand this blog unless you take the time to download all the full text medical articles, tables, graphs etc in this blog, and study for yourself what a 60 minutes journalist refused to look at. Or .... chose not to.
The increase in pertussis has nothing to do with the unvaccinated at all. It's all happening because doctors in Australia have finally woken up to the fact that pertussis can happen in vaccinated people and are testing for it.
The reason all the old studies over-estimated pertussis vaccine efficacy was, as Cherry said in a 1998 medical article, that doctors believe that vaccinated people never got pertussis, so they never diagnosed it. SIMPLE. Pertussis after a vaccine was coincidence and something else. According to Dempsey 2009, that situation still exists in USA today.
As to the Australian whole cell whooping cough vaccine, it was implemented solely on the basis of trust, because as CDI admitted in 1994, there were NEVER any efficacy tests done on it, and there were no "serological correlates" or tests to prove immunity, for them to use as a basis of discussion anyway.
Wonder what the Australian public would have said back then, if some doc had said, "We don't know if this works, because we don't know how to test for immunity to pertussis, but we assume this bright idea is a good one."
The Australian CDI went one further in 1997, and admitted that they ALSO... didn't collect data on the vaccination status of whooping cough cases either. Continue Reading
It's all about money.
Currently, there is considerable discussion relating to whether or not rodent viruses might be involved in CFS. You will find three full text medical papers here. Obviously, we’ve always lived with mice, and Florence Nightingale had CFS, according to historical records. However, never .... since the invention of the syringe, and scientists brewing up drugs on animal cultures ... have so many people, being treated in so many different areas of medicine, had so many different animal endogenous viruses injected into them, one way or another, whether monoclonal antibodies, or whatever. And we all know, from medical literature that apart from vaccines, the majority of these patients in the past, were seriously immunosuppressed. We also know, that these immunosuppressed people excrete huge quantities of viruses into the environment, multiplying the opportunity of sharing with everyone else, their pathogenic loads. Deadly choices - Paul's porkies.
A few days ago, I set my husband a task. To read Paul Offit’s book called, “Deadly Choices How the anti-vaccine movement threatens us all” By half way through he was unamused. Beguiled by his sighs of discontent, I decided to stop my current track of writing. and start reading. Naturally I started with the Prologue, where the first sentence read; “There’s a war going on out there – a quiet, deadly war.” Continue Reading
Puppets, fanatics, nuts and sluts.
That about sums up the last week really. Meanwhile, Brian Deer shafts the parents in the 1998 Lancet study calling them worse words than being “nuts”; Dr Paul Offit calls Wakefield a fanatic; vaccine defending bloggers infer that Jenny McArthy is a slut, and the sun shines out of Dr Offit’s little pet Amanda Peet’s long legs... and Gregory Poland considers anyone who is anti vaccine has, "low cognitive complexity in thinking patterns, reasoning flaws, and a habit of substituting emotional anecdotes for data”. And we think Parliament is childish?
The current medical and media parrotage on Deer-gate is worse than in the past, but even so, history is very instructive. Medical systems have for centuries, made dog-piling, and character assassination into versatile art forms with all the spontaneity of well practiced professional wrestling. Continue Reading
Twenty-five years plus is quite a long time....
(By Peter Butler) Especially when it's been spent dealing with issues and systems governed by engrained mindsets, and heavily influenced by huge vested interests more interested in profits, than making available all of the facts ...without restriction; or providing customized care to unique individuals, rather than trying to fit everyone into their "one-size-fits-all" moulds.
The hidebound Ostrich that is Auckland District Health Board.
Further to the superb piece in today's Otago Daily Times paper written by Otago Medical Schools Professor of Medical Ethics (and neurologist) Professor Grant Gillett, calling into question the ostrich attitudes of medical practitioners, Continue Reading
